This guide provides information on Universities in Ghana accepting D7 and E8, and the programmes offered to get a University degree.

What Your Grades (D7 & E8) Mean

Before anything else, it helps to understand what these grades mean in Ghana’s education system. According to the WAEC grading system for WASSCE, grade A1 to C6 are credit passes, which are required for entry into most Universities. Grades D7 and E8 are considered as pass but not enough for University admission, while F9 means fail.

For more details, learn how WAEC grades your WASSCE results and how to calculate your aggregate score: WAEC’s grading system for WASSCE, 2026.

That means if you were graded D7 or E8 in your WASSCE, you did not fail. But that does not mean you met all the requirements of most Universities in terms of your grades. This is because Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) have mandated all degree programmes in Ghana to require minimum credit grades of C6 or above for admission. However, this does not mean there are no opportunities for University admission. It just means you need to consider alternative ways to gain admission and further your education.

This guide will provide you with all the neccessary information you need about the top Universities and Institutions that accepts D7 and E8.
